about

After two releases of music composed for the jazz orchestra OJKOS, trombone player and composer Andreas Rotevatn realized just how much danciness was a part of his music. And what is more natural then, than to release a remix album of the music! Six brand new takes on Rotevatn’s music is presented as the album “OJKOS remixed”.

On “OJKOS remixed” you will find a blend of long-time members of the Norwegian electronic scene, meeting with the new generation. The true legend - Hans-Peter Lindstrøm’s takes on the tune “Drosa is real!”. From the same generation comes Knut Sævik - most known for his duo project Mungolian Jetset - with his version of “Fjordingen II”.

The youngsters consist of remixes by DRAAGEN, Bård Berg, b0ka and Lakeshouse. Here you will find the next steps from the heritage of J Dilla, the Avalanches, Air and early Daft Punk, and you can meet the future colleagues of Todd Terje, Prins Thomas and Bjørn Torske.

Even though Rotevatn can sport a solid jazz education from esteemed academies of music, he was actually more into exploring electronic music before his university days. During high school, he delved into the world of Fruity loops, synthesizers and drum beats. So even though he pursued a career as a jazz trombonist for 10 years, he was still an avid follower of the Norwegian space disco scene.

Evidently, the lure of 808s and the PoumTchak pattern never left Rotevatn’s subconsciousness. So when he released his first album of compositions for the composer’s collective OJKOS, a common feedback from reviewers was that the music was inherently groovy and with clear ties to dance music. Therefore, the fact that a remix album from six Norwegian electronica producers is being released, is just the natural next step, and Rotevatn’s musical journey has gone full circle.
